Hello. We've ordered 6 copies of Lightwave for Indies and Indigos, and 2
copies for Pentiums. I'd like to find out how batch rendering over NFS
networks will be acomplished.
   For those unfamiliar with Softimage (what we have now, and will
continue to use) it basically allows you to render to one directory, and
if a file exists, it just skips that file. So machine one starts frame 1,
etc, and then when a machine comes to another frame, it checks what
frames exist (or partially exist) and skips to one that doesn't. This,
of course, will not work with Lightwave, since LW saves the whole file
out after rendering.
    How will LW ha4 handle EASY multimachine rendering? I DON'T want to
have to try and tell it manually to skip frames. This too will not work,
since the Indies and INdigo 2 should render quite a bit faster than the
Pentiums, and we have a mix of R4000 and R4400 CPUs on the SGI machines.
    Anyone? Anyone? Bueller.......
